Fentanyl Use Disorder Treatment
At Positive Reset Recovery Center, we understand the complex and often overwhelming nature of fentanyl misuse. Our outpatient programs are designed to offer professional support, structure, and accountability while allowing individuals to maintain their responsibilities at home, work, or school.
What Is Fentanyl?
Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid commonly prescribed to treat severe pain, often after surgery or for advanced cancer pain. It is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine, making it highly effective—but also highly dangerous when misused. Because of its strength, even small amounts can cause overdose or death, particularly when mixed with other substances.
Fentanyl works by binding to the brain’s opioid receptors, blocking pain and increasing feelings of relaxation and euphoria. These effects, while beneficial in medical settings, also make it extremely addictive.
Common side effects of fentanyl include:
- Drowsiness and sedation
- Confusion
- Nausea and vomiting
- Constipation
- Respiratory depression
When used improperly or without medical supervision, fentanyl can quickly lead to:
- Tolerance and physical dependence
- Full-blown opioid use disorder (OUD)
- Severe withdrawal symptoms
- Risk of overdose and death
- Impaired relationships, job loss, legal issues, and financial strain
Outpatient Treatment for Fentanyl SUD at Positive Reset Recovery Center
At Positive Reset Recovery Center, we understand the complex and often overwhelming nature of fentanyl use disorder. Our outpatient programs are designed to offer professional support, structure, and accountability while allowing individuals to maintain their responsibilities at home, work, or school.
We provide multiple levels of outpatient care tailored to the severity of the SUD and individual needs.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our IOP is ideal for individuals requiring a higher level of care but do not require inpatient treatment. The program includes:
- Individual therapy which is individualized treatment to address substance use and underlying causes of misuse.
- Group therapy provides a sense of hope in a group setting for peer support and shared experiences.
- Educational sessions provides education to educate on the risks of ongoing substance use.
- Family counseling provides family support to rebuild relationships and support systems.
Outpatient Program (OP)
OP is a step down from IOP and best suited for individuals who have established some recovery stability. It typically involves one or two sessions per week and provides:
- Ongoing support and accountability
- Individual and/or family therapy
- Continued focus on managing cravings and relapse triggers
- Reinforcement of skills learned in earlier phases of treatment
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
We offer MAT for clients who can benefit from additional medical support. This evidence-based approach combines behavioral therapy with FDA-approved medications such as:
- Buprenorphine – helps reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings
- Naltrexone – blocks the effects of opioids and helps prevent relapse
MAT is administered alongside counseling and has been shown to significantly improve treatment outcomes.
Our Therapeutic Approach
Our treatment philosophy integrates a range of evidence-based therapies that address both substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions—known as dual diagnosis.
Therapies at Positive Reset include:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helps individuals identify and change thought patterns that fuel SUD.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Teaches emotional regulation and healthy coping mechanisms.
- Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET): Strengthens internal motivation and readiness for change.
- Family Therapy: Involves loved ones in the recovery process to strengthen support networks.
